Modelling and characteziration of two-phase systemsWe utilize computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and Euler-Lagrange approach for modelling and general characterization of gas-liquid systems in stirred and sparger (bio)reactors. Breakage and coalescence of dispersed phase due to the action of turbulence is being considered. We study the influence of various process parameters on resulting bubble size distribution, mass transfer, nutrients concentration and hydrodynamic stress. In addition to simulations, experimental data are also generated for validation of developed computational models. The next step of this project will be extension of obtained fully validated model for use in liquid-liquid systems. There the effect of viscosity of dispersed phase will be studied. Emphasis will be placed on systems where viscosity of the dispersed phase is rising during the process. 👤 Pavel Krýsa |
